Measurement step #1 1. HEIGHT: From the top of the head to the floor (without shoes) is the height. Most people know their height. The height measurement usually determines the variation.
 Variation    Height Range
 Short -    5´ 4 ¼" - 5´ 7¼"
 Regular -    5´ 7 ½" - 5´ 10½"
 Long -    5´ 10¾" - 6´ 1¾"
 Extra long -    6´ 2" - 6´ 5¼"

Measurement step #2 2. CHEST: This measurement is taken with the coat off, around the body. Place the tape line well up under the arms, straight across the back, over the blades, and over the chest in the front. Insert a finger between the tape and body to insure proper ease. This measurement usually determines the coat size.

Measurement step #3 3. OVERARM: This measurement is taken with the coat off, around the body in the same manner and position where the chest was measured, but this time including both arms. The normal difference between this measurement and the chest is seven inches. If the difference is greater than seven inches, then the coat should be a larger size to compensate for the extra material needed in the arms and shoulders. Example: A customer's chest measurement is 40", but his over arm measurement is 49". This customer should probably take a size 41. Measurement step #4 4. WAIST: This measurement is taken with the coat of around the body. Place the tape measure directly over the shirt, just above the hip bones and through the navel. Insert a finger between the tape and body to insure proper ease. It is best to ask the customer if he desires the waist of his trousers tight or loose and measure accordingly.

Measurement step #5 5. HIPS: This measurement is taken with the coat off, around the body. Place the tape line directly over the pants around the largest part of the seat. Before taking this measurement, see that the ~customer removes all bulky articles from his hip pockets and has heels together. When fitting slacks only.

Measurement step #6 6. OUTSEAM: Ask the customer to place his pants on his waist where he is comfortable (usually higher than they were before you asked). Take the tape and from the top of his pant line to the top of where the shoe meets the foot from the outside just below the ankle, add 1" and you have the pant out seam.

Measurement step #7 7. NECK: Measure with collar unbuttoned. Place the tape around the neck at the level the collar would fall if buttoned and take measurement. This measurement is taken for shirt neck size. It is most important if the customer's neck size seems out of proportion to the rest of his body.

Measurement step #8 8. SLEEVE LENGTH (total or shirt): With arm at side, place the end of the tape measure at the nape of the neck and measure to the shoulder and down the arm to the wrist.
Variation   Total Sleeve   Inseam
Extra short - 29" - 30" 15"
Short - 31" - 32" 16"
Regular - 33" - 34" 17"
Long - 35" - 36" 15¼"
Extra long - 37" - 38" 19½"
